Post-harvest Constraints of Solanaceae Species Produced in Kabare Wetlands, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo

The Kabare territory wetlands produced a significant quantity of solanaceous crops (potato, tomato and eggplant, etc.). One the observations is fact that losses are being observed during production mostly after harvesting. objective this study was to assess post-harvest constraints main grown in these wetlands. A survey carried out among 225 randomly selected households from four lied down six districts characterize producers, identify techniques used observed. Samples products were preserved for 15 days according local preservation evaluate their effectiveness. results showed producers face numerous three types: structural, technical, technological. These varied value chain actor group another. Most methods by classified as moderately effective, did not allow quality be preserved, while quantitative remained very high. Besides, other external factors such environmental socio-economic contributed significantly also losses.
